Automotive interior EPDM mats are full dynamic vulcanized thermoplastic elastomers of mixed EPDM/PP. Let's take a look at the characteristics of automotive interior EPDM mats!

Automotive Interior EPDM Mat It is a fully dynamic vulcanized thermoplastic elastomer of mixed EPDM/PP. So, what are the characteristics of automotive interior EPDM mats? Let's take a look!

Low density and high filling: Density as low as 0.87. In addition, a large amount of oil and fillers can be added to reduce the cost of rubber products, compensating for the high price of EPDM raw rubber.

Anti-aging: Automotive interior EPDM mats have excellent weather resistance, ozone resistance, heat resistance, acid and alkali resistance, water vapor resistance, color stability, electrical properties, oil resistance, and room temperature fluidity. EPDM can be used for a long time at 120℃, and can be used temporarily or intermittently at 150-200℃. Adding appropriate antioxidants can improve its operating temperature. Peroxide-crosslinked EPDM can be used under harsh conditions.

Corrosion resistance: Due to the lack of polarity and low unsaturation, it has good tolerance to various polar chemicals such as alcohols, acids, alkalis, oxidants, refrigerants, detergents, animal and vegetable oils, ketones, and fats.

Water vapor resistance: It has excellent water vapor resistance. On the other hand, fluororubber, silicone rubber, fluorosilicone rubber, butyl rubber, nitrile rubber, and natural rubber will experience significant deterioration in appearance in a shorter time under the same conditions, and it is estimated to be better than heat resistance. At 230℃ superheated steam, the appearance did not change after nearly 100 hours.

Automotive Interior EPDM Mat The Importance of Design Capability:

Adjusting the formula and using qualitative and quantitative theoretical design to design the mold of the seal strip according to the physical properties of the formula (such as hardness and compression rate) is very important. Otherwise, no matter how good the rubber material is, if it does not have a reasonable shape design, it cannot give full play to the advantages of EPDM. For example, when designing an isolation strip, first measure the profile and sample window to understand the system structure of the profile and the degree of matching between the profile and accessories, and obtain the measured values. If it is necessary to make up for the shortcomings of the combination of profiles and accessories, the amount of compensation can be considered, and then optimized design can be carried out according to the physical property values of the rubber material, and optimized design can be carried out in non-critical places to reduce the weight of meters and reduce the cost of customers. Most manufacturers with weak design capabilities do not know the door and window system, and do not arbitrarily copy or consider the matching amount of profiles and hardware accessories. The designed seal strip cannot give full play to the sealing performance of doors and windows, and can only play a role like a decorative rod, causing huge losses to door and window manufacturers. Therefore, good Automotive Interior EPDM Mat Cannot be separated from good design!
