PET is divided into fiber-grade polyester chips and non-fiber-grade polyester chips. Fiber-grade polyester is used to manufacture polyester staple fiber and polyester filament, which is the raw material for polyester fiber enterprises to process fibers and related products. Polyester is the largest variety of chemical fiber in terms of output. Non-fiber-grade polyester also has applications in bottles and films, and is widely used in packaging, electronics, medical, construction, and automotive industries. Packaging is the largest non-fiber application market for polyester and is also the fastest-growing area for PET.

Advantages of PET as a packaging material:

① Excellent mechanical properties, impact strength is 3-5 times that of other films, and good folding resistance.

② Resistant to oil, fat, dilute acids, dilute alkalis, and most solvents.

③ Excellent high and low temperature resistance, can be used for a long time within a temperature range of 120℃, can withstand 150℃ high temperature for short-term use, and can withstand -70℃ low temperature, and the mechanical properties are minimally affected at high and low temperatures.

④ Low gas and water vapor permeability, with excellent barrier properties against gas, water, oil, and odors.

⑤ High transparency, can block ultraviolet rays, and has good gloss.

⑥ Non-toxic, odorless, good hygiene and safety, can be directly used for food packaging.
